Careel Boat Services Pty Ltd has provided the community with boating services for over 40 years. The business (and the locality) has seen many changes over this time. However, one of the most recent changes is a change in ownership.
In early 2001 the Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC) advertised that a lease over the Commercial Marina Site at Careel Bay was open for public tender. Austral Monsoon Industries Pty Ltd (Austral Monsoon) was notified in November 2001 that it was the preferred tenderer. Austral Monsoon’s tender included a development proposal for the upgrade of the existing facilities and the establishment of a floating berth marina.
In August 2002 Austral Monsoon purchased Careel Boat Services and has effectively controlled the site since this time. In October 2003 Austral Monsoon signed a new 25 year lease with Department of Lands.
Gordon "Bluey" Woolcott is the new manager of Careel Bay Marina. Bluey has been a shipwright in the Pittwater area for over 20 years
